"I'm sorry," I say. "I wasn't sure that I could trust you. After all, we'd known each other for well under an hour at that point."

"Show me to this Cecil's house," Lord Richard says, his face grim.

"No," I say. "You're not fit for something like that. Even if you were, I wouldn't want to risk your getting another injury on my behalf. No real harm has been done. The jewelry doesn't matter."

"He can't be allowed to get away with what he has done," Lord Richard says. "Drugging someone and then robbing them is a very serious matter."

1. "Very well," I say reluctantly. "I'll lead you to his house. It's not far and I think that I can find it again."
2. "Why not wait for Teran to wake up?" the coachman suggests. "I'm sure that he will quickly make Cecil see the error of his ways."
3. "By your leave, I will act as your champion, Harry," Hendrik says, making me feel even guiltier about how I misjudged him initially.
4. "This village has a watchman," Hendrik says. "By rights, it should be a matter for him to deal with."
