Cottage in the Woods

The Black Void - Episode 2378

I spot a cottage in a small clearing up ahead. The trial dosen't seem to proceed beyond the cottage. I don't know what awaits me inside, and I feel apprehensive. Having so recently been taken advanatge of by Cecil, I don't know If I want to put myself in a situation where I have to rely on a stranger for help.

I'm exhausted, hot, and thirsty. I'm just about going out of my mind with worry. If whoever lives here wishes to harm me, I doubt I could put up much of a fight, or even run away. I suppose I could turn around and go the other way, hoping to get back to the village, but I don't even know how far that is, or if the trail even leads there.

No. I have to trust that whoever lives here can offer help, or at least directions. I steel my nerves and knock on the door.

  1. A grizzled old man answers the door. "What do you want?" he asks gruffly. I meekly ask for directions to the village
  2. A middle aged man opens the door. He claims to be a woodcutter and invites me inside, offering food, drink and rest. He makes little effort to hide his ogling, which makes me nervous.
  3. The door swings open, apparently unlocked. The cottage looks clean and lived in, but at the moment the current occupant is absent. Should I wait for them to return?
  4. The door swings open on creaky hinges. Judging by the layers of dust and cobwebs, this cottage has been abandoned for some time. I enter to rest and look for supplies.
