"Since you are supposed to be dead, as far as Arif and his supporters are concerned, it must be somewhere where none of their people who could recognise you is ever likely to go. It occurred to me that it would be safest for you to go to Laralia. The border is not very far."

"I know," I say. "But I would prefer to go a considerable distance beyond the border. I finished up here through beimg captured by a raiding party, and I wouldn't want to go through that again."

"I didn't know that. You don't look like a Laralian."

"I'm not. How I came to be there is a long story."

"Which we don't have time for, I'm afraid.

1. "Teran has a map of Laralia, which you can look at. He will take you to wherever you would like to go. He is not an Artazian, so can travel freely in Laralia."
2. "I'm afraid that Teran can take you only as far as the border. As an Artazian, it wouldn't be safe for him to go any further."
