The real reason that only Everett Porter and his dog, Sparky saw the
spaceship come down is that the spaceship was a small shuttle, not a huge
spaceship like the Q'lisp which can house several shuttles. Had
the Q'lisp came through the wormhole, it would easily have been
spotted by the entire world even though Earth's RADAR is very primitive.
Having decided to investigate, Everett headed toward his battered dark blue Toyota Camry. Sparky jumped through the open window into the passenger seat. Everett reached under the engine and picked up a bottle which was placed directly under the spot where the oil was leaking and poured its entire content into the engine. Then he floors the gas pedal and start the engine. It turned over, but wouldn't start. This Camry was found in a junk yard in Amarillo, Texas a few months ago and it included the Texas license plate. It had been a victim of an automobile accident and was junked. Everett chose to drive this car because it was easier than getting a car, new or used. This car was drivable in spite of the accident and since this car was no longer registered, Emerett didn't have to buy insurance. He also didn't have to have it inspected. On the third try, the Camry started and they were off. Everett didn't follow the road. Instead, he made a beeline toward the rocky hills where the unidentified flying object was still descending. Half-way towards the hills, the flying object disappeared beyond the nearest ridge. The Camry reached the base of the hills and came across a road that led into the hills. He followed the road, scanning the horizon for any sign of the flying object. At this point, there was a loud bang inside the engine compartment and the Camry was silent. Sparky yelped and jumped out. Noting that black smoke was coming through the cracks around the hood and the body, Everett climbed out and soon the entire car was engulfed with flames.
