"I agree, with the presence of those beasts, 'crocodiles' did you call
them?, that it would be most unwise for you to swim across. I
likewise, would be no match for one of them in the water, nevermind that
I
would sink like a stone in my armor. I am afraid you may have to continue
on as you are for the moment." He dosen't seem terribly displeased with
that notion.
"Well, is there anywhere nearby where I might get some clothes then?" He thinks for a second. "There is a small trading outpost not too far from here, maybe about an hour on foot. I don't imagine they'll have much in the way of selection, but a simple robe will probably suffice." "Will you take me there, Don?" I ask. "Of course, Harry. I could never abandon a lady in need." I thank him for his help. He begins walking north along the river, motioning for me to follow. "Don't think this means I'm in any hurry to see that lovely figure of yours covered up." he says with a hearty laugh. I blush deeply and cough uncomfortably at that comment, averting my gaze. Don senses he's offended me and quickly apologizes. We walk for abut a half hour in silence, Don in the lead, occasionally looking back to make sure I'm ok. I follow behind nervously, arms folded over my chest to keep the last shreds of my decency intact. I'm grateful for his presence, even if being naked around him is making me a little uncomfortable. My mind continues to reel with the enormity of the situation. Don's name and apperance sound European, and he speaks English. Yet this kingdom is in, or at least borders, a seemingly vast desert. I think of the Crusader States tht were set up in the Middle East, but if its 1073AD it's about 30 years before the first Crusade. The name of the kingdom, Laralia, is also unfamiliar. Then there is his suggestion that I was subject to some sort of magic spell. Is it possible I've been thrown not only back in time, but to an alternate reality as well? I quicken my pace and catch up with Don. He turns to me again, looking sullen. "Sorry, Harry." he says again, hanging his head. "Nevermind abut that. I have some questions I wanted to ask you." His face immediately brightens. "Go ahead."
