I suppose I should have anticipated this. The door appears discouragingly
sturdy. I don't think that I could break it down - at least not without
rousing the whole household.
It looks as though I may have to delay my escape attempt till after the wedding; they surely can't keep me under look and key indefinitely, so I should have an opportunity before long. I wonder if whatever wedding ceremony they use here has a requirement for the bride to express her consent to the marriage, and what would happen if I refused to give that consent. I suppose they would probably send me back to the facility. I look around the room for anything that might be used in an attempt to spring the lock. I can spot nothing, but then it occurs to me that the spike in the buckle of one of my sandals might conceivably do the trick. It's a long shot, but it doesn't look as though the lock is at all sophisticated. No doubt it was originally installed only to provide the occupant with a little privacy, not with the idea of turning the room into a prison.
