Wedding Bell Blues

I do a double take. "Are you serious?"

"Absolutley" he says. "Our ceremonies aren't very complex, and it will only take a half-hour or so to gather everyone in the town square. We have to work hard every day just to make a living around here, we can't spend a lot of time on things like this. There will, of course, be a feast later tonight, but we find it best for the actual marriage to take place quickly and with little fanfare."

"But, I..." I start to object.

"What is it? You did consent to marry him, did you not?"

I have no response. I suppose I did just say I would marry him, but I wasn't expecting it to happen so soon.

1. I reluctantly go through with the wedding
2. I feign illness to hopefully buy a little more time to think of an escape plan
3. I say "I changed my mind, I'd rather go back to the facility."
