Coincidence?

"True," you admit. "The padlock had been forced open. Whoever did it was probably after whatever else the room was holding. I never got a good look."

"Hmm..." the alien pondered for a bit. "In that case, your going into the room at the same time as the appearance of the Black Void must have been a coincidence, something my race is not very big on."

Him mentioning his race makes you think. Here you've been talking to this alien for a while. And you don't know his name or anything. Yet he's had your personal information on tap as it were. Although since you know virtually nothing about him or his race, you don't know if asking him would insult him or not, and you don't think you can afford to do that.

1. You pluck up the courage and ask, anyway.
2. You wait to see if he'll volunteer that information of his own accord.
