You ask, tapping the side of the container. Joey doesn't move. He just
stares off into space, as if to be pondering his own existence. "Well, poor little Joey here," the lab assistant replied, "he was... well, not exactly the brightest fella." Pop. What was that? you think to yourself. You just heard a small popping sound, but not in your ears. It's like it was coming from inside your head. The lab assistant didn't seem to notice it. "...It was taking him twenty minutes to finish mazes the other mice completed in less than five," the assistant continued. Hhhhhuhhhhhh... Pop! There it goes again! A popping sound, inside your head, but this time preceded by a stretched out huff. "...But thanks to our breakthroughs in genetic engineering, we have been able to replace his brain tissue, almost doubling its mass!" Hhhhhh... Lllll... P! It's getting louder now, and sounding more like distinct letters. You've stopped listening to the lab assistant, and are now focusing completely on the strange sound in your head. H....e...l...p!
