Nick, Rick, and Dick

The Black Void - Episode 130

As a firm believer in strength in numbers, you decide it will be wise to have some companions if you're going to go around and fight evil witches. You'll figure out how you'll still manage to get the princess all to yourself later. Unfortunately, the majority of the interested parties are all drunken oafs, scrawny peasants, or just plain incompetent in some manner or another. Not that you're a lot better yourself. You are about to give up when you seem to catch the attention of a tough looking man with full plate armour and a large sword at his side who is obviously an experienced fighter.

"So, you say you're from the other side of this Black Void?" he inquires.

That's how you've been advertising yourself. If it was thought that the Queen was taken to the other side of the Void, then surely someone from that same other side would be an invaluable companion? This man is the first worthy looking fighter you've caught the attention of, though.

"Yeah, and I'm interested in finding some companions to help me rescue your Queen. I'm, uh, interested in the reward, you see."

The man thinks for a moment. Then, he holds out his hand. "My name is Nick," he tells you, "I think we'd make good companions."

Nick. You remember that name from the graffiti on the toilet stall. The one declaring that "Prinsess Annibeleen will marrie MEE 'nd no un elssse!"

"Actually, I'd rather-" you start, before you are interupted by a newcomer.

"Join I, the noble Rick? Surely, surely. Wise decision. Greetings and all that," says a man, similarily attired as Nick, though he's about a head taller. You remember him from the toilet stall graffiti too. He's holding his hand out expectantly.

"You are both ninnies," another newcomer says to Nick and Rick, "The collective intelligence between the two of you cannot even hold a candle to that of a newborn piglet. If you had the wit to, you'd realize that this fine sir most certainly desires Dick's company greater than either of yours. Greetings good sir." This third man, Dick, is armed just like the other two men, though is puny by comparison. Still, he seems to be a more competent fighter than almost anyone else in the town square.

You stammer. You remember all three of these men describing how they and only they will marry the princess on the wall of the toilet stall. Still, if you refuse their invitations, they'll likely slice you in two. If one of them is on your side, you'll at least have a chance for survival against the remaining two. Heck, if you're really worried about your puny existence, it might not even be a bad idea to try to get them all three working together.

You choose. . .

  1. To ally with Nick
  2. To ally with Rick
  3. To ally with Dick
  4. To try to get the three men working together and on your side
