Intent on talking to Minestus, Astra did not hear the beginning of Belboz's story, in which he described her as a seductress. Having managed to pull Minestus to one side, she whispered: "Do you have any idea what the hell is going on here?"
"No," Minestus replied. Astra thought that he looked a bit shifty as he said that, but she reflected that he looked that way for much of the time anyway, so it might be unsafe to read anything into it. He went on: "But I do know that it must be a bad idea to risk alarming the locals by letting on that we come from a different reality. I'd much rather that they assumed that we are just 'normal' travellers. That was why I had to make sure that they didn't take what you said seriously." "Did you have to say that I'd taken a vow of perpetual nudity, though - something else that strangely matches what happened when I was here before? Now I'm prevented from wearing clothes all the time that we remain at the inn." "Sorry about that," Minestus said - though his grin rather belied his words. "It was the first thing that came to mind." "I see," Astra said. Having finished talking to him, she took another swig of her ale, and then turned her attention to the story that Belboz was telling.
