All magic comes at a prices and for Fred's current opponent this price is that the magic slightly benefits Fred. For while the spell has done what it intended, making Fred a big, unwieldy creature, unsuitable for his anything close to a human life, it's a big, unwieldy creature suitable for a fast moving river. So Diana clings to the back of a twenty-five foot otter as they careen down a mysterious river. Now while Fred WAS an otter, he was still Fred so he wasn't quite sure which was was up otter-wise and the both of them were still in quite a lot of danger. Mostly because of rock-eaters who munched everything on the basis something has to be a rock. Up ahead logs shattered.
