Fred feels something very strange come over him; his legs feel as if they are being pasted together. Since he can't see what's happening underwater, he just tries not to panic, and dives into the water. He's never enjoyed swimming this much, and actually has to remind himself that they're looking for a place to climb onto land. He dives under again and sees Diana's shape a few yards in front of him; it's just a blur, but it's curious that he can see that far at all. Fred surfaces, and when Diana does as well, he calls, "Let's climb back up over there," and gestures with his arm toward the bank when she turns. They meet there at the same time and try to pull themselves up; it seems to be abnormally difficult for the both of them. When they finally flop onto land, they both see what was happening to them; they have long, graceful, scaly tails where their legs should be. Fred stares at his own tail for several seconds before saying...
