Still, Fred knew he would not get such an opportunity again. This was the moment to act decisively and get started on his quest. The queen was waiting for him (he imagined), he could not risk procrastinating or changing his mind. He grabbed the door handle and slowly began to turn it. He almost did not expect the door to open but it did. Fred moved to peek inside, to make sure it was just the king inside, that no one else was there, when he heard the alarming sound footsteps in the hallway. He had no choice but to dash inside and shut the door quickly. *click* Fred cursed silently, realizing that whoever was outside would have heard the door shutting. The footsteps stopped for a moment, but the moved rapidly to the door. "Your grace?" a voice called out. "Are you sleeping?" Fred thought about answering, dismissing the servant or guard outside but he knew that would be a mistake. The man outside probably lived in this castle and had spoken with the king often, or had at least heard the king speak.Thankfully the king continued his snoring and the guard or servant decided not to disturb him by entering the room and the footsteps moved away from the door. Fred, who stood beside the door in case it was opened was now free to go about his business.
