Braveheart Recaps

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 97905

"Iss good!" the gryphon male exclaimed, looking delighted at telling his tale, all the while overlooking the partially hidden aghast look that Betty Ragan keeps giving the gryphon.

I’ll explain later after he’s done talking here in a bit, I mentally communicate to Betty, understanding her distress over the idea that what Braveheart is now, mentally, is nowhere near as bright as he must have been before his transformation.

Obviously, she is not aware of Bravehearts whole story or else she wouldn’t be so distressed at the diminishment. Oh, I SUPPOSE that the mage that Braveheart might have been had been a moral and just man beforehand in his own fashion and transforming trespassers perfectly acceptable in his society. Who knows for sure? Not like we’ve actually been to that world and only have an imperfect view of it through three grownup elves with less than perfect memory about their time as human beings (at best) and one gryphon male…

But that said I dare say I do not feel that the mental and physical transformation that produced Braveheart as he is now is a bad outcome of what I consider a person that was something of a monster…

Braveheart

"Before Braveheart was Braveheart he was a smelly, bad human mage!" I begin, explaining where I came from. "Mistresses tell me that the stupid mage that I was before cheated a smelly, slimey man who was hired by a smelly, slimey dragon female . . ."

I tell them my story. Tell how I woke up and fell in love with Hilda and Gilda and how they gave me my name. Told them how Hilda and Gild, my mistresses’, came and got messed up in my business before I became Braveheart as well as I can (it confuses me my mistresses tell it it happened so so is so)! I tell them that Hilda and Gilda had been . . .er . . .Frost Giantesses (that’s what they called their old huge forms!). How they’d been looking for work and got tricked into trying to get back the ashes of that slimey female dragon’s mate so she could bring it back to life. But I, back when I wasn’t Braveheart, zapped them with magic and would’ve turned them into pets . . . No! The I before I would have turned them into familiars to serve and love me forever and ever after but somekinda mark of fay (or whatever), turned the spell back on the me before me and turned me into Braveheart, a familiar to love and serve my mistresses forever and always until I die!

And . . .I won’t die because of that deal I took with a Rule that visited earlier, after "inducting" both Gilda and Hilda into the Family that the girl who saved me and my mistresses and her sister and her babies from those nasty and greedy Wood Elves….

OH! I forgot about t part where I helped rescue Nightfall’s (Hilda’s and Gilda’s new sister I only met a really short time ago but seems like forever!) infants from that slimy dragon who’d stolen them from her and changed them into baby dragons to raise them as her own. That was kinda after the dragon there changed Nightfall from a human female to an elf female woman.

. . .

I think that’s when it happened, I thnk. I’ll ask again to make sure.

Yeah, anyway we got some money and stuff from my old place (the place which was mine before I became Braveheart) and a reward by that stupid dragon female for returning her mate’s ashes to her (like we had a choice after she zapped us to her cave and had us in her claws?!) to pay a mage to teleport us back to the dragon’s lair. We snuck back and stole Nightfall’s children back because that stupid dragon female never expected that and would’ve gotten away clean and free except for some kind of slipup. Good thing that we managed to use the newly . . .er . . .relived? Undeaded?!

. . .

Well, somehow the dragon female brought back her old dead mate (in the form of a female human that Nightfall says was what she looked like before becoming an elf . . .don’t ask me I don’t understand). We managed to use the returned mate to get away from the female dragon safely and had enough time for that mage we hired to turn Nightfall’s baby’s back to normal . . .

!!

No, that’s not right. If they’d been human babies before then . . .

Well, better them to be elf babies considering that Nightfall’s now an elf woman and didn’t feel like turning back into a human woman. Better than those scaley little monster things they’d been before we rescued them and changed them into something less. . ..monstery and all that!

Ah, anyway we managed to get Nightfall’s children back and get them changed. We even got enough time for the mage to change us all to look different, just in case that female dragon came after us for revenge! I understand why Hilda and Gilda wanted to change their looks and I guess becoming elf woman like Nightfall will do it, but . . .

Well . . .elves might be faster than Frost Giants and can go more places than Frost Giants (Frost Giants like places with ice and snow and not normal, warm weather, they told me). But Frost Giants are a lot stronger and tougher than elves. Why they change? Why not Nightfall change into a Frost Giant instead of . . .

Sigh. I don’t understand. I’ll ask later when I get a chance.

Sigh, but while the mage got the spell to "teleport" us somewhere where that meany dragon female couldn’t find us the dragon FOUND us. We got away (managing to kill that slimy dragon’s mate before we went to fix that female dragon good and right!) but ended up getting chained up to be slaves by a bunch of evil, greedy elves!

If I could have I would have killed them all for my mistresses’ but they had me bound. I couldn’t.

If not for Rei and her sisters buying us all to freedom and removing our magic slave collars? Even going to far as to feed Nightfall’s children with their own milk when the others couldn’t (mage overlooked something I said but got interrupted by mean old female dragon before I could explain what got overlooked).

Even got us a trip up on a special ship that could fly much higher up than I would and could ever dream of flying with my own wings. A ship between the stars?

. . .

A star is the Sun and the Sun is a star and not just little lights up in the sky at night? Braveheart confused (again)!

But confused or not…

"Braveheart likes being Braveheart forever and ever and belonging to Mistresses forever and ever," I finish. "If I didn’t become Braveheart then all sorts of bad and nasty things would have happened, you see. Better this way and Braveheart . . .I love being Braveheart and won’t go back!"

And like being one of these "Champion" types like what the rest of his family in "Eternity Incorporated" were, thanks! It allowed him to be at his mistresses’ side, serving them and any children that would come for ever and ever and ever.

Hilda and Gilda were nice peole and being forevermore with them was the smart thing to do! Hey even Nightfall went and joined up because of that, becoming a Champion herself….

That or I think the Rule said that as a Wood Elf from her old world meant that she was immortal anyway due to some kind of business with an overly possessive Moon goddess or some such who had a nasty tendency to hold onto her "property" forever and ever and ever… Becoming a Champion was needed to keep balance or some such business I didn’t understand at the time and will ask about (later)!

Hey, the Rule that inducted him into the ranks even was nice enough to grant him his wish and allow that weird Mark of Ex-Communication (or whatever it was) to go away and stop messing up every spell that his new family and friends would try to use to help with their problems.

The last was said with a bit of heat towards the room in general and towards nobody in particular. Frankly, he was happy to be as he was now and was getting a touch tired of the pitying looks he kept seeing some of those (not of his family) kept giving him.

  1. Hey, even the giant sized cousin species, those like Trilling and his mates, accepted him after getting over the initial surprise of him being . . .on the small side.
