Fred shuddered. Wherever the demon was going to send him, it must be
unpleasant indeed. But he would withstand it courageously, and he gathered
all his mental strength. "I am a true knight," he said. "Wherever you are
sending me, it cannot be so unpleasant that I will be broken. I'll escape
and defeat you somehow." The demon laughed. "You think so? Everyone breaks eventually. You will be sent to a set of dimensions where you will be forced to wander, without purpose, through thousands of unpleasant locations, and you will be utterly alone!" "I can face everything you can throw at me," said Fred. Then, the castle abruptly faded away, and Fred found himself in a strange room. Around him was a lot of bizzarre furniture, which was 20th century furniture, although he didn't know it. In the midst of the room was a spiral staircase, going up and down. And Astra was nowhere in sight. He was utterly alone. With Astra not around, he felt lonely. ~~Loneliness can't be all that bad,~~ he thought to himself.
