A Masterful Interruption (NOT)!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 95973

”Ah yes but of . . .,” the Master begins, still sneering slightly at what he considers to be yet another strutting marionette of an officer (albeit one from America), one that was only a subpar version of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart only to be interrupted by a rather pointed and loud cough at his side by none other than his present benefactor/savior/employer: Rei Takahashi.

Rei put the Master’s behavior to do with him not recognizing the General use of ironic (albeit a bit black and strained) humor.

” Tsk tsk,” Rei chided softly, shaking her head slightly Mayhaps I should take up the task of introductions? It does serve a purpose here, you know!”

”I know that good decorum demands certain protocols to be followed but do we really have time for this?!” the Master huffed. “I mean granted I do realize you are competent and all that. It kept me from flying into a blind panic in what could only in in not only my permanent demise but an eternity of pain and suffering afterwards after being hand delivered by your . . .special friend Diane Walker!”

Walker, upon soon becoming an avatar to the dwarven goddess, the Forge, had to kill an analog of the Master in the course of things (re: 8443). Diane had mentioned the Master’s ghost getting battered about by the ghost of the former owner of the body that rogue Timelord had stolen , but what was not mentioned there was that the guards who’d eventually come to collect that particular Master’s charred corpse would find not signs of any such ghost fights. Later when Rei asked about that Walker had admitted that the Forge herself had come out and basically . . .done what she had been known to do in Terra Prime dwarven mythos: played deliveryman and dragged that particular Master’s soul down to the dwarven equivalent (or something like that) of Hell.

Nice enough entity, the Forge, but a REAL mean customer in certain respects when it came to crime and punishment…. Details of which she had (through Walker) lovingly shared with this particular vilian and more than implied that HIS fate would be that as well if REi should fail and he (and the Earth here) died.

”However, I just have to say I fail to see why he has to suddenly be so flip about this rather dire situation!” the Master finished, clearly agitated as he looks again past REi and at the Marine in question. “It’s . . .tacky and lacking in a certain amount of respect for the gravity of the situation! And may I add I do fail threatening to incinerate Tokyo 3, a city of several million Japanese will bring back a few towns that have populations less than then thousand each!”

”I will have you know sir that you seem to be overlooking the fact that I was demanding ‘Tokyo 3’s’ surrender instead of just unilaterally blowing them to Hell,” the general returns in a polite (but very COLD) voice. “Being that things being what they are, we would not even BE talking about the nuclear option IF ‘Tokyo 3’ had not used nuclear weapons first AND used nuclear weapons in such a reckless manner on American soil . . .”

”Oi!” Rei interrupts both the general’s diatribe against the Master AND whatever the Master was going to snark back. “Could your generalship stop for a bleeding second here and use those SG-1 starship sensors they have up there to scan the blast sight where those supposed Tokyo 3 nukes cooked off! I bet you good money you’ll be surprised to find there’s no sign of nuclear fallout.”

General Hummel glares at Rei for a moment, clearly angered at her interruption. Then again, Rei was a bit angry for having been ignored AND herself having been interrupted by the Master (who seems to have a scheme in motion here by the look on his face).

Hummel then gestures to an offscreen person (a technician at a guess).

”Do not try to manipulate the situation like that again,” Rei said softly to the evil Timelord while awaiting results, more than a bit of a snarl present in her otherwise pleasant voice.

The Master . . . smiled blandly but he really . . .did not like the look Rei had right now in her eyes.

  1. “No signs of any kind of direct or indirect ionizing radiation sir,” a young male sounding man said off to the side, voice cracking in surprise.
