Something Finally Goes Right

The man glanced at her, a strained smile on his face. "Good. At least we've caught one break today."

Stacy pulled herself out of her own state of shock and looked at the man with sudden sympathy. "I'm sorry about your partner."

He shrugged. "It wasn't your fault." Wasn't it? Stacy wondered. If I had been less trusting of Nielson from the beginning...

"Anyway," the man was going on, "he knew the risks. The important thing now is to get this disk to a cryptographer. Hopefully it will contain the information we need." He sighed. "At least then I suppose I can tell myself he didn't die for nothing."

They sat in silence for the rest of the drive. Finally, they pulled up to the curb in front of an abandoned-looking warehouse.

"This is where your cryptographer is supposed to be?" Stacy asked dubiously.

1. "No," he answered. "This is where we leave the car."
2. "Yes. Here she comes now."
3. "Yes, but... Wait a minute. Something's wrong."
