The Never Ending Quest - Episode 93032

Yukiko

Do I actually act like that, the unblinking stare and such? As unkind as it may seem to say, If so then I REALLY need to work on such things. And I’ll help HER as well while I’m at it!!

But that is for much later!!

"You are real," Tabitha suddenly whispers, voice choking on emotions. "All of you are real! The dream . . .!"

She suddenly lurches forward to grab me by my shoulders and . . .

. . .

She cries. She had so much . . .pent up emotions that it is just. . .

Too much like me and my sisters but more so in some ways, I find out after I and my sisters pat her back. Rocking her a bit and hugging her trembling form.

She has been through Hell. Even if she—now human in mind, body and soul—cannot truly understand the faint memories she has of her old past incarnations; incarnations in which due to her Gendo Ikari’s and NERV’s much more strict and domineering controls left her little freedom to become anything else BUT a monster in the end when things fell apart and Third Impact rolled around.

Such treatment could and did only create an eldritch admonination (like some of you out there who did that "alternate character interpretation" my anime and manga counterpart) instead of a human, clothed in the form of a young woman named "Rei Ayanami"; much akin to what my "dear" Dr. Ritsuko Akagi accused me of being under her breath from time to time.

I will forgive the various perviews of Neon Genesis Evangelion of thinking that. The story is so full of "mind screws" and possible interpretations that the case could be made. Just do not ask me to be as forgiving for certain former co-workers and superiors from the reality I lived.

Eh, anyway... Got sidetracked there again. Mum would chide me on that, I believe.

Mum? I believe Rei and the other sisters are starting to rub off on me already if I am beginning to use such British terms for Mother...

So, still that said it is strange to be confronted with living proof of a sort of the old phrase: "It could always be worse."

But . . .as for what Tabitha was saying about dreams?

Astra explains after Tabitha has calmed down and stopped hiccupping from suffering something of an emotional overload that it had been due to a number of factors that she had "dreamed" of me and my sisters.

Yes, you perhaps you do recall that due to a number of factors I and my sisters are a bit more mystically inclined in one way or another even before becoming Champions and such? Well, Tabitha’s dream had been a glimpse of a possible future (a glance into another reality/timeline) which . . .had resonated within her at some level even though she had forgotten the whole deal, consciously. After all, the First Child never dreams. Cannot dream because dreams are for humans and NERV made sure we First Children never thought of ourselves as such, in the end.

The drugs also played a large part at suppressing our ability to dream and use our imagination, really. Just an under dosage allowed it so…

So a dream slipped through and stayed with Tabitha, even into the next incarnation (or three)?

O-kay.

Basically, that dream had come back full force into the poor girls mind as she had unexpectedly found herself thrust into a human body without warning; thrust into an improperly prepared clone body at that!

No anesthesia. No prior operation to remove certain organs (organs that would have allowed for reproduction) to put in place that damnable S2 organ instead and . . .

Sigh, sorry. I must admit that a am . . .bitter about what they did to me (and would have done to poor Tabitha if Setsuna had thrown NERV into chaos). Nobody should have such a choice taken from them by another by force, trust me on that.

Yes, you guessed it. I had been rendered barren by a "necessary" operation to be the proper human/angel hybrid NERV needed (at least as far as the upper echelon in the know).

So many things had been taken from me and denied me and my sister her before me it sickens me to no END and I fear that I may have quiet the chip on my shoulder over it sometimes. I understand that my sisters had something of a chip themselves for a while there but got over it (mostly) by now but feeling MY upset had upset them when Xander had to call me and my sisters spare parts. Not clones. Not people. Spare parts.

YES! I know he did not mean to broach a sore subject but you would think he would not have done it after he had . . .

Never mind, I guess that Xander’s desire to twit the Master got the better of him and I will listen to his apology. Accept it even but I have very much have to agree with my sisters: we need to leave after this Quest (and Tabitha’s Quest) are done.

We are in Terra Prime’s past, albeit a LONG ways away in another galaxy and such which is why Tabitha (and I) had been able to be asked to become Chapions, vice marrying into it or born into it. Little chance of events here and now interfering with history back upon Terra Prime (which should be having the Enemy/Alliance War touch down upon it’s innocent shores right about now if Rei is correct) but let us just take it as a sign. No dating Xander, even IF I had found him somewhat attractive at a basic level. Nothing. Time to leave after this is said and done. Knock the dust off our shoes and be gone.

Oh, Rei has an idea for Willow or two if the poor Dark Elfin woman want it but that shall involve bringing her permanently forward. Along with any of the other Scoobies who do not wish to chance the Mayor’s (or Principal Snyder’s) vengeance once we Champions leave, but that is later.

As for why Tabitha is here? Well, after being given (and taking) the offer to become a Champion she had wished to meet us (and the rest of the family but us). Used her Champion wish to see us, even! Could have had anything but . . .

. .

I feel . . .warm.

. . .

Ah, and so as to not cause any more adversity to my and my sister’s Quest Astra brought her here between the ticks of the clock to meet us.

And what exactly do we do, all of us together between the ticks of the clock? It is not to get briefed upon our next Quest. THAT shall come upon the completion of THIS one.

Instead? Well, we do various things. Some of it a bit trivial seeming but for sisterly bonding, you must understand! Things like my older sisters do something about poor Tabitha’s hair. It . . smells of blood still, even though Astra had been kind enough to gift my sister with clothing just the same cut and style as my own (but in pink).

. . .

Pink. It just doesn’t work for her, but I’m not one to complain. She seems to like it, though she DID mention about how she like our color coordinated dresses; goes with the eyes and hair, really. Said as much as she winced in a seen eerily similar to my own when my hair had been redone to something less. . . messy.

She really seems to have bonded on me, though, despite being a Lilith analog. Oh, she’s bonded with sister Lilith and the others, but me most of all.

Something to think about. Later, that is.

What else?

We talk. Cry. Laugh.

Love.

And too soon, we part ways.

We shall meet again soon enough. Mark me on THAT, but it kind of . . .hurts to part. But at least I feel much more calm after meeting her and not so "spun up" (I believe that is the proper term) after Xander’s inadvertent hurtful words.

Yes, I shall forgive him but that apology better be good

But as for the next person to talk with between ticks of the clock, that will be an interesting one!

Besides, in a very real way he did/will do something to lay the groundwork for sister Tabitha's Validation Quest.

"I believe I know just why now the Master was taking Xander’s last jabs more personally than he should have," Reika says, giving the Master a lookover for ‘telltales’ and such after consulting earlier readings from tricorders.

We had been making sure the first time around he had a heartbeat and such.

We had overlooked the signs that this body he wore was a clone. What gives?

We ask as much as soon as the Master gets over the surprise of being unfrozen and finding us standing before him instead of across the room as before.

  1. "Oh that small thing?" the Master smiles a charming smile that I somehow find a bit 'creepy" (I believe is the best term).
