The Never Ending Quest - Episode 9303

Fred rubbed his sore butt as he got up from the floor where he had landed
on named body part. Infront of him King Cedrik II Exultaine sat in his
great oaken throne. On his right side the court wizard Golgoz son of
Belboz stood with his arms crossed and a stern face directed at Fred. On
the kings left side Princess Exotica, the only other member of the royal
family, sat in a smaller throne with big soft cushions. She held her hand
in front of her mouth, apparently trying to hide an amused smile. "Fred, Fred, Fred..." the king said shaking his head. "It seems you have failed the Test of Dragon Slaying again." "Despite the use of forbidden magical aids!" Golgoz said as he strode down to Fred and snatched the magic book out of his hand. "That means three days of prison service for you boy!" Fred looked shepishly at the stern wizard, at the king who had a reproachful expression and at the princess who now looked back at him with mild pity. "I- I didn't know it was..." he began. "Spare me your excuses!" Golgoz snapped. "I need not remind you that you only have one month left to deem yourself worthy to be a royal knight, do I? If you do not pass the Test of Dragon Slaying in your next attempt you will be facing a life long career as an officer in the peasants troops!" Fred opened his mouth but the wizard gave him no chance to reply. "You will report to the dungeon keeper before this evening meal for your prison duty. That will be all. The king has more pressing matters to deal with than some disinherited duke's son! You may leave." Fred swallowed and bowed to the wizard. He then bowed to the king and princess in turn before turning around and leaving the throne room. Jarlath is going to be furious with me for losing his book" he mumbled to himself.
