I...Prisoner

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 9275

Fred was still wet, still cold, and now more miserable than ever. He was sitting on a bench covered in jungle fronds and about him were the metal bars of his prison. All he had wanted to do was slay the no-good terrible Dragon of the Southern Caves and now he found himself the prisoner of men- hating amazons way down south.

~~I must be some three months horse-ride from Suffex~~ he thought to himself. ~~damn bewitched Dragon Caves! I should've went towards the light!~~

He lay down upon the fronds and shivered. The warrior-women had given him a plate of fruit, a jug of some yellow liquid, and a bucket for a urinal; other than that he was left alone. The cage was inside of a large hut, there were two other cages identical to his within the hut, but they were empty of prisoners. He looked upon his own person again, as he had for the last number of hours. He had his tunic, his breaches, his vest and boots. His sword was taken from him as was his armour. He could do nothing but wait.

In some other part of the amazon city two women were having a discussion of sorts.

"You found this...man in the jungle carrying the petrasyph?!!?" said the elder woman with wide eyes. "It didn't burn him? It didn't melt him?! It didn't eat his bones as if they were mold of ovid nectar?!?"

"No it did not, Serifi," came the reply.

"Amazing!" said the old woman. "That man must definitely die when this is over; the Elementals shall be most pleased to share in his essence."

"That is what I thought too, Serifi," answered the young warrior.

"Come, my child," said the wise woman. "Let me show you the words."

"As you desire, Serifi," said Aephix Tes'Eestra.

The old woman lifted herself from the cushion in which she had been sitting while the young woman –who had been standing- followed her. They walked to an adjacent room where there were many cushions and ornate tapestries and cases that displayed many unique articles. The Serifi walked towards one object and then another, looking, handling, even sniffing. Finally she approached the petrasyph, the Stone of Destiny. She took it into her gnarled fingers; she brushed it with her hair, she caressed it with her fingertips. She did not allow the younger woman to touch it, rather she showed it and no more.

"This," said the Serifi pointing to a large glyph. "This is Aep. She guides the little lights of the heavens. And here" –she said touching a string of glyphs on the left side- "tells the tale of Mistress Cycilia. The last circle here" –she pointed to a spot void of glyphs- "is the mound of power." The Serifi looked at the petrasyph with tears in her eyes, then she turned to Aephix. "That is enough Teaching today, young mistress. Tomorrow you shall hear more. Now go, and stay alert to the howls of the monkeys and the growls of the jaguar. They shall guide you more surely than the point of spear or tip of arrow."

"As you wish, my Serifi," said Aephix. "Your words are as nectar to my soul, I am enriched as the supris blossom in the river Ethans." With that she bowed till her long auburn hair touched the ground, and then she left.

  1. Fred locked in an amazon cell -- Myrddin and Zerm the Second in hiding from the amazons -- the Aqualarians ready and willing to do whatever is necessary for their divinities. Was up?!!?
