"I understand that you did all your own stunts," the interviewer said.
"Well almost all. I am rather proud of that. When one's wearing clothes, it's not so hard to have a convincing stunt double, but we couldn't find a skilled stuntwoman who could pass for me when naked." "So what was the most difficult stunt to do?" "It's hard to decide, but one of the trickiest was in a part of the story where Fred and I were having to pretend to be burlesque entertainers performing for some lord or other. For reasons too complicated to go into now, it ended up with Fred off-stage and my having to carry out a series of forfeits. I had to do a gymnastic routine, performing cartwheels, somersaults and the like. To finish, I had to stand on a large barrel and roll it along with my feet, while keeping my balance. That was really difficult, as the barrel was not a perfect cylinder but was slightly convex, which make it hard to keep to a straight course. I was propelling the barrel along an aisle between rows of seats, and the aisle was only about twice as wide as the barrel. I had to practise a lot before I became any good at it, but when the cameras finally started rolling I only needed two takes." Evidentally it had been assumed that anyone viewing the interview would already have seen the film, in that something of a spoiler had been given. Of course that assumption did not apply in Josh's case.
