Fighting for the monkey

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 91591

Astra and Fred had been resisting the monkey's talks as much as they could but who could resist this mission? The purple fire-streaks that only the Mercentile Brigands could magically produce was all over the walls of the orphanage. And ... Fred had personally seen the ... leftovers of their rituals. Even the ones that had their limbs and lives were never the same.
"Surely you have your own men to battle the Brigands." Astra managed to say over tea and crumpets.
"True, true. But why not send the outsiders in first? It is like those red-cloaked tunic-bearers in the tales of Roddenberry The Playwright. If you die, well, it will tell me that much more of the Brigands."

  1. How could Fred and Astra refuse hunting down the kidnappers of orphans?
  2. The threat of the monkey was much worse then the Brigands. Resist.
  3. Fred resists a little too much and suffers a stroke. He dies in a mili-second.
  4. As a sort of Plot Ex Machina, the Brigands attack.
  5. The monkey undergoes spontaneous human combustion.
  6. The last two weeks have been an eleborate prank.
