After about two hours of travelling, the four finally reached the beginning
of the trade route. It was a large and steep canyon, which seemed
impossible to climb. Jarlath decided that they would camp out near there. He needed rest, because his spectacular rescue of the girls had drained a lot of magic energy out of him. The girls found an area that looked good near the canyon. Matthias hunted for deer. Jarlath couldn't really help much, as he was pretty much drained of magic energy, and wizards weren't really trained for survival skills. "I suppose this route is dangerous becuause it's so mountainous and rocky," commented Matthias. "Actually, no," said Carola. "There were routes that are a lot more so. I don't know why this one is so dangerous." "I suppose we'll find out in due time, eh?" said Jarlath lightheartedly. But nobody laughed. Finally, everyone went to sleep, not aware of the great danger that they would confront soon...
