After spending an uncomfortable night, the two girls had been given an
unappetising
breakfast, and then the party had resumed travelling on the road that led
to the main
entrance to the dragon's underground realm. The entrance could be seen in
the distance,
when seemingly out of nowhere a deep booming voice said: "LET THE GIRLS
GO, OR IT WILL BE THE WORSE
FOR YOU." The eight men looked around for the source of the voice, but
could not see
anyone.
Jarlath, hidden behind a rock a hundred yards away, together with Matthias, smiled to himself. That voice projection spell had gone pretty well. With any luck, it would have alarmed the men. It was lucky that his voice had completed breaking six months ago, as the deep tones had been needed as part of the effect. The two of them had to rely on a mix of wizardry and bluff, for however heroic a warrior Matthias might be he couldn't take on so many opponents in a straight fight. However, though the men escorting the girls were obviously concerned, they knew that they would reach the comparative safety of the entrance to the caverns within ten minutes. Besides, these were tough characters, and they certainly weren't ready to surrender just yet.
