The light is certainly an attractive option. Strange creatures generally tend to hang out around water anyway. Best to save the fighting for the important stuff.
You follow the light. Soon, you turn past a corner and find the source of the light. You see an old man chanting, reading something out of a book. Floating just in front of the man is the source of light, too brilliant to look at. It seems as if you haven't noticed yet. Perhaps you could safely sneak past, and avoid any potential conflict. On the other hand, this man might be able to assist you in some fashion.
