"Plans and Plans Awry" Or "To Be or Not To Be?"

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 8975

".....we did discuss this on our way out here," Betty begins, a little put off by this meeting.

"Yes, and that explains why it took the TARDIS a bit longer than need be in getting here," Inquirer says in a slightly ironic voice. "Nothing wrong with it, because being prepared somewhat while not overly planned out is a good recipe for a successful operation. Be that as it may, it still wasn't much of a comfort as I was out in the void, freezing my.....rear off. Also, there is the problem of the fact that I was OUTSIDE the TARDIS and not listening in on the bull session as it were."

"Oh, so you just.....want to know what we have planned?" Ragan asks, a little embarrassed, "I thought that......"

"No, I wasn't going to take over the whole of the operation," Inquirer smiles, "since Betty and Ragan probably have the best idea of how to gain access to the VLA, I figure that what plan you all came up with was for the best. This requires a bit of tact and forethought that you already gave on the way out here. It wouldn't do to make things difficult for your sisters when and if they ever return to their respective Earths."

If I could I'd access the place remotely via cyberjack but the kit with the multiplexing equipment so I can interface with the relatively lower tech computer controls, Inquirer said to herself, However, I seemed to have left that kind of equipment in my other cloak.....

Inquirer smiled a bit at that small joke.

"Right," the Doctor says, appreciating a military member who knew the lay of things (for a change....sometimes the Brigadier could be a bit vexing.....), "we were planning on, after I reactivate the Chameleon circuit since we are aiming for a 'low profile operation' as Inquirer put it for the reasons already put out, we were going to materialize within the VLA control room and input the signal that would stabilize that problem spot that this Earth had left behind.

"No guns a'blazing upon entry....unless we are talking that interesting weapon setting called stun"

Though even that would perhaps present problems if we must do that, the Doctor sighed, That could lead to awkward questions for Betty's sister afterwards......

B'Elanna smiled a moments silent pride to those of Star Fleet that she'd belonged to in an oblige faction.

"Of course you were going to time warp back to the time before this Earth got dropped into the Terra Prime universe?" Inquirer asks with an arched eyebrow.

"Actually, that is what the plan is," B'Elanna says, "but I still fail to see why that was necessary. Why not just zip in and out without the time travel extra? Just a simple operation with a bit of covert-ness to it"

"Ah.....well....let me try to explain it in my own way," Gilmuriel says, coughing. "As a knight....even though I usually was tasked to.....er....take care of some other business....."

"Taking care of what would pile up to be twenty dragon....." Sigin put in, recalling the ashamed answers to Sigin's questions when the dragon mage had interviewed Gilmuriel and the other elves for positions as apprentices.

He smiling an understanding smile and continues: "Twenty dragons that deserved their ends, pupil. Good dragons tend to try to keep a low profile, hide. Else what happened to those good dragons you met (re: 7376) happens on your old world.....as I gather it."

Fred frowns at the memory of the mauled conditions those few poor (and at the time what Fred had thought were just insane) dragons. With their entrails ripped out of their body, it had been apparent that they had not long to live....but despite that they'd still managed to offer a tidbit of needed information or some such. Fred had figured that these "good" dragons had gone insane, an aberration, and had been targeted for elimination by other dragons. The possible truth of the matter was.....less than appealing. The truth being of enforced beliefs and behavior.....

The former dragon slayer coughs and continues.

"The thing was that sometimes a knight had to be called in to maintain order with somewhat harsh measures," the elf said, "needed if one wanted to keep life, property, and all that in one piece. Scared people are dangerous in mobs. What this Earth went through......"

"Oh.....it's called rioting and martial law to keep or restore order," B'Elanna shivered, finally remembering something that had been "program" knowledge from her stint as a Dream prop. "We just.... pop on in while they haven't clamped down....while we have a bit more freedom to move about. So we have more room to improvise if need be."

A small silence ensues as that unpalatable bit of info is digested.

"It's a shame that I don't have the access codes to get into the VLA computers," Betty begins. "Else we could do this from a remote location and not have to bother with the staff out there....."

Ragan nods in agreement, both she and her sister were Correlator Operators.... not Computer System Administrators. She then turns to her sister and ask at what time did the VLA and the VLBA projects get lumped together (probably due to some bright idea at saving budget money by sharing more project resources) when.....
