Yukiko . . . So, here I stand with the other just moments later after the impromptu briefing Buffy Summers the angel gave in the clear, finally bringing us all “in the loop" about what she had thought we already had known at the start of this Quest. Her Quest in part dovetails quite nicely with ours. She doesn’t tell us all of it due to reasons she will not divulge. However, one of her primary goals of her Quest? To keep out any “Big Bads" from coming in from the other side into Sunnyvale from those other realms and from any of the “Big Bads" from Sunnyvale from doing the same with those other realms (or at least trying); one less worry for us, anyway. Rei had mentioned something about a corrupt Mayor possibly poking his head into things we would rather not have him poking it into Quest. Another name is mentioned only in passing and in hushed whispers (almost as if Setsuna does not wish for that particular person to overhear): Randal Flagg. That was another "Big Bad" as well and whatever and whoever this Flagg is, odd enemy designation aside, leaves me wondering. What IS this fellow's history with Setsuna and my new family and why do I feel that Buffy's help may be MUST welcome in Flagg's regard here sooner or later, if we are unfortunate? As an aside I do recall a fictional character being mentioned on the back of one rather popular pre-Second Impact novel by that name I purviewed while deciding on which Western Literature novel I was to do a book report upon earlier in my academic career. While even now looking back at that particular author I do not regret having overlooked it, I must admit that my final choice in what I freely admit was a rather uninspiring book report indeed (rather subpar report), I would have much rather read that Stephen King novel about some super plague ridden world than about . . .sparkling vampires! Good God in Heaven, at least I can trust that the Slayer here would NEVER have been so lacking in taste to sleep with is basically a walking corpse given mobility via magical means! I mean that is about as tacky as a nameless technician had given about Jesus Christ, from the Christian religion. Something that kind of still gives me uneasy feelings, especially now with everything that has been revealed to me. Especially with actual vampires and magic. Yes. That one about Christ being an actual vampire-- who'd come back from the dea--who'd shed blood for us and now he wanted OUR blood? Yes, that particular Goth joke. . .most tasteless! Hrmph, anyway I was . . . . . . Our Quest? You ask that? Hm. Very well. Now, to recap for those out there who are without Eidetic memory (Commander B*stard hated to repeat himself so my and my sisters’ genes were tweaked for improved memory) can be summed up simply as this: fix the mess that Setsuna Serenity made of things in connecting Sunnyvale’s Hellmouth to a multitude of decidedly incompatible alternate realities. Left unchecked, the Hellmouth would close and seal itself off from those other realms. Good and well except for the fact we all rather would not like to have the explosive messy result from an uncontrolled closure would cause Sunnyvale and the surrounding area. Let us not go into the unfortunate effects the magical fallout would have on the entire state of California of this world! No, the Validation Quest would be to avoid such thing happening, thank you. And being new to this group I find their Validation Quest is mine now as well. Good and well, that, even IF I am rather . . .finding myself under prepared still without the loaned equipment my sisters gifted me here. While they have not broken out their “really heavy" equipment, the assault weaponry (directed energy based no less) and other wards and such are . . .nice. <PMight not be as heavily armed and armored as I would be in Unit Mark Zero, but then again I can go in a lot more places easily than in a multi- storied combat robot! As for the tertiary goal Buffy had hoped we’d help her with? Red eyes blink and a obisian skinned head covered in white hair shakes itself as it’s owner turns and blinks, finding herself looking into the eyes of another owner with even deeper red than her own. "Buff . . .," Willow begins, scowling when she finds us instead of Buffy. "What do you want?!" Still growling, Willow puts aside the startling memory of seeing her friend (and what she had hoped to be MUCH more, eventually) aside. Surely that had been some kind of hallucination, For Goddess sake’s, Buffy wasn’t an angel since she surely had been stuck in . . a hell dimension?
Doubt briefly clouded her features before shaking it off. No, those half memories must be false for surely..she’d not been so wrong as what a nagging thought said she had been! Surely! Surely these intruders were liars and nothing else but!! Sigh, the Sunnyvale Syndrome strikes again or something like that. “You owe Buffy not only your life but your very soul," the blue haired woman said without preamble, pointing back at Buffy, who’s STILL in her Angellic form. "And if you want to know just WHY we said what was said, it was simple: you f*cked up good and royally! "As you are right now you're . . . bad news," Rei adds, sniffing as if smelling something disagreeable. "And being that bad news rarely improves with old ages we broke the news here and now before you could bollox things up more, Willow." Buffy's wings ruffle a bit, clearly NOT liking exactly how Rei's handling this but . . .waits and sees what happens next, giving the blue winged woman a chance.
"Even the bad and horrible Ethan Rayne knew just how horrible that thing you tried to enlist help from was Willow," the lead Champion muttered. "Was so horrified that he actually WAS trying to do right in doing what he did . . .in a round about and ham handed way by locking up your power in that new form of yours. That Chaos God devoured almost an entire race, consuming their very souls into it's makeup, d*mnit. And you wanted help from it? Even she and the others could feel the evil vibes the Chaos Gods gave off near the end, when they'd thrown off their sheilds and let it "hang out" after Horus had refused them. They'd been winding up to smash Horus into a paste with their evil powers right before Willow showed up and stunned them with her request (so niave) for help. It still left the Champion's gobsmacked. What kind of spellwork been neglected to NOT allow Willow . . .nevermind. Also, let us NOT go onto the tangent of just how Warhammer 40K theory defined "souls" differently from the Buffyverse (or Terrra Prime for the matter). Willow's "soul" might have been safe from the Chaos God's (She Who Hunger's) appetite. It might not have been and might have been consumed and destroyed. Heck, the god might have even been too angered at the interruption and might have just let Willow's soul fade into oblivion. Might have "spared" Willow, only twisting her sould and mind into a willing slave to so his/her (that particular Chaos God had both sets of sexual organs, by the way if you were interested). Yes, nevermind... Instead, we'll concentrate on the fallout of Willow's actions, well meant or not. That business? Had left Rei of the opinion that Rayne probably wasn't a total lunatic after all, despite his stupidity that had left something like . . .a large fraction of Sunnyvale (as it would turn out) a disaster area. Good grief, if the wreckage alone showed just WHY one does NOT conduct intense power armor combat (basically walking tanks with similar levels of firepower) inside a 20th century civilian town. Heck, with a lot of the slipshod 80's construction techniques having gone into a lot of Sunnyvale's dwellings, it was a wonder that anything was left!! That aside Willow’s face grew a bit paler, a nice feat considering drow’s rather dark cast features…
