”Wait . . .you’re trying to tell me that the Rules and Agents didn’t even brief you about anything about me?” Buffy blinked, implications suddenly clicking in her mind.

A small twitch of the eyebrow and flutter of wings, then…

”Maaan!” Buffy then growled in frustration. “When they told me before going into this Quest with you Champions there was going to be a bit ‘more’ adversity than in a normal Quest, they weren’t kiddin’!”

I blink as I watch Buffy go off on something of a slight rant about the unexpected events. Things she rants about like temporarily losing her memory (aka knowledge about her true angelic nature and her Quest, whatever THAT is). About us not getting properly briefed…

Actually, Buffy doesn’t go THAT far to show her frustration, but Rei and the others can see the desire to express it in some kind of manner similar to that is in the beautiful angelic woman’s eyes. Some of the Champions had (telepathically) discussed just how quickly Buffy must have been inducted into the ranks of the Angels from the rank and file of the newly dead entering into the afterlife (and into Heaven or whatever) before this MESS they were now all facing had taken place.

As collected and powerful as Buffy was as an actual angel was, Reika couldn’t help but note an air of being . . .newly minted. New to the job.

Green. Else Buffy would have known first hand just how bloody difficult an Agent—the custodian of Chaos and chaotic circumstances amongst other things—could make things for a Champion (or another Celestrial on a Quest for the matter). Yes, even IF said Champion worked for their office they STILL had to make things . . .difficult.

Feh, not like they can show favoritism but still one has to feel for Buffy here, the red haired woman thought to herself. Getting caught almost as flatfooted as we were a few times recently.

”I would just LOVE to hear what your Quest is and all it’s goals are,” Rei says in a soft, reasonable voice. “How about we just go and tell each other about our Quest and their goals, so at least we don’t keep on tripping up if nothing else? I mean we had intended on just giving warning about what we saw”

Frankly, that would be a welcome thing in her book. Buffy’s (as well as Walker’s/the Forge’s) unexpected arrival had . . .made things rather interesting for Rei and the gang earlier; kind of in the Chinese sense of the word, really that. Nothing FATAL, ultimately, just . . .interesting.

Oh, not all of it was bad (Yukido’s addition was MOST welcome), but still!

Apparently, Rei and her group’s had inadvertently done it back upon Buffy what had been done inadvertently (kind of) to them; time to put an end to the cycle if possible.

”Out in the clear?” Buffy asks, rolling the thought over in her mind and then making a quick decision. ”Of course you know that this means both our Quests are going to be more difficult than you apparently appear to have thought and . . .or maybe not . . .?”

1. Buffy looks pointedly at some of the “heavy duty” equipment that Yukido’s looking over that Fred dragged out of from somewhere in his pack.
