Loneliness is Worse than Hunger

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 88983

Astra realised that, if Fred did leave to get supplies, then she would be alone again. (She discounted Vekus, who in any case would probably go with Fred.) For all that Fred was annoying, there was something comforting about his presence, even if he was unable to free her. And if he left, there must be a chance that he might not ever come back, if only because he was unable to find her again. He had already admitted that his map was next to useless.

"Don't leave on my account," she said. "I expect that the dragon will be here to feed me before long. And that will mean that you'll have your chance to slay him, without your needing to find him." She decided that it might be wiser not to tell Fred that she thought that the chance of his succeeding in killing the beast was very remote.

  1. "I'm feeling rather hungry too," Fred said. "I'll go and get some food and then return. See you in a few hours time." With that, he turned and left.
  2. "All right. I wouldn't want the dragon to come when I wasn't here."
