"Necromancer?" asked Astra. "As in 'one who welds dark magic'?"
"Ho, ho!" laughed Belboz, "Someone has been studying etymology!" "Well, when you have to learn several ancient tongues, you sort of pick it up." "Understandable. I wouldn't have learned half the magic I do if I didn't know Ahahan. In fact, I'm using an Ahahan spell now to make my footsteps boom." "Your footsteps boom?" repeated Fred. "You know the fright nearly killed us? We thought it was a giant or a dragon!" "My sincerest apologies, I just happen to like the sound of the echo in these tunnels." "Right, right. Astra, can I speak to you for a moment?" Astra and Fred took a few steps toward a market stall, then Fred said to Astra in a whisper, "Astra, this guy is full of black magic!" "So?" "Think about it, Astra! He could stab us in the back at any moment, and he wouldn't even have to use a knife! He could just snap his fingers and curse us!" "What is it with you Allarians and curses? I was thinking we could use him to our advantage." "What?" "Think about it, a reknown magician who friendly approaches us in our time of need. If it's not coincidence, it's a great opportunity!" "Reknown to you, maybe. I still think it's dangerous. This whole friendly greeting may be an act... to lure us into a trap!" They heard Belboz's voice from the distance: "Everything alright back there?" "Just give us one more minute!" yelled Fred, though he had no way of measuring time. "Come on, Fred," pressed Astra, "let's ask him to do something for us! I'm sure he won't ask for much in return."
