"I was once the lamp of a prince of far east. Back then, within me there
lived some twenty djinni, each with a different specialty. As the
generations passed, the djinni got bored of serving the same family
always, which was growing petty and shallow. One by one, the djinni
managed to convince a master in each generation to wish them free or to
turn them into a human. Soon only one djinn remained.
"By that point, there no longer was a family to wish him free, they had been militarily deposed. The new rulers of the palace could not see my value, and sold me off to a merchant heading to the middle east. This merchant soon discovered the djinn within me, but this djinn was the only one that had a limit: he could only grant three wishes. "The merchant started thinking of what he could wish for, and soon realized that, because there was a limit, the wisher had to consider quite dangerous wishes, such as taking over the world. He resolved his last wish would be to hide the lamp so well, nobody would ever find it again. "But one man did find it again, one whose worth lay far within, the Diamond in the Rough. Unfortunately for me, this worth made him talk to the djinn and realize he longed for the freedom his brothers had enjoyed, and wished him free. "Now, nobody had any use for me. I was handed down, pawned, and even misused as a spitoon. I needed a djinn to be valued, and I, alone, could create new djinni. This is why, when I was left behind in this market, I spent years gathering all my magic enough to put a spell on myself: that when the next person rubbed me, the first living thing in front of me (regardless of its species) would become a djinn, and would have to learn the ways of the djinni; and that way, no one would depreciate me as a spitoon again!" There was a silence, which Astra broke. "But, Wonderful Lamp, what does all this have to do with me?" "You were the first thing in front of me when your buddy here rubbed me. You are now a neodjinn and must learn the ways of the djinn." "But I... Look, I'm sorry for what happened to you, but I can't become a djinn! They're waiting for me in, Aquilaria, the kingdom to the south of this place." "It's too late for that! It took me eighty years to cast that spell! You must now learn the ways of the djinni."
