John scrambles to the expressway's median, which is surprisingly wide for
a busy freeway in the middle of a large city. He manages to make it
unscathed, stopping to catch his breath while leaning against the Jersey
barrier as vehicles speed by him passing both ways. Making his way down a quarter of a mile, John spots a temporary shelter built on the median's widest point. Included here are bright red sofas, and even more bizarrely, a spiral staircase connecting the concrete with a wide pedestrian overpass up above. The overpass connects two different and colorful neighborhoods separated by the six lane expressway.
