A "Thirty Xanatos Pileup" or "Just Another Day at the Office"

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 87919

Yukiko

"…Could you try explaining that again?" a somewhat befuddled Leman Russ sputtered, blinking. "That debacle I and the Inquisitors . . ."

"Also known as a Thirty Xanatos Pileup,"Rei muttered quietly under her breath. "Too many plots and plotters tripping each other up in the end and you need a flowchart just to make heads or tails of it all."

That and the entirely understandable mistaken impression that today’s religious reenactment of some holy miracle of the past in the Imperium which the Emperor himself had cancelled had gone on… Well, that had been why the Primarch and the Inquisitors had not realized the Emperor himself had been before them, in the flesh…

That and a massive case of "target fixation"… But that is by the by. Sigh, I guess I must be the pedantic one at times to just keep everyone in the loop. Whoever reads about this misadventure eventually!

As for what sister Rei had just said?

The later part had been more for my benefit than anyone else. Later I would find out exactly what that "TV Trope" meant (re: http://tvtropes .org/pm wiki/pm wiki.php /Main/ Thirty Xanatos Pileup).

Sigh, I must admit that up until now I lived such a VERY deprived childhood, having missed gems like that. Yes, indeed!

Indeed, I (or rather my sisters) have been credited for saying: "The power of imagination is the ability to create your own future, and the power to create your own flow of time." With all the creativity I shall soon find myself exposed to . . .I shall soon find myself amazed at the possibilities they inspire in an imagination unbound within!

But first, back to the situation at hand! Which in this case goes hand in glove with certain factors we "First Children" and Primarch, actually. NO! It is not that Primarchs were made to pilot EVAs (or Titans as they call them here and now in the 40th Millennium). Primarchs are very versed in war and the tools of war, not being confined to a "mere" meche. Nor does it have to do with enhancements in physical and mental abilities (Primarchs FAR outstrip us girls, hands down). I myself could have easily flattened the class bully back home in Tokyo 3 if I had wished, even before being transfigured into a winged angel but I know Primarchs like Russ and Horus would have flattened me.

Is it a wonder why my sisters would have chosen combating such people like them (or the Emperor) if they had been less fortunate?

No, Leeman Russ and his brothers (living, traitor, or dead) do not have nor never had parts of their souls bonded with a meche or other weapon of mass destruction. While I will wager good money that the rage and hatred that I had built up—that part of me who had been trapped within Evangelion Unit Mark Zero—could match what a Primarch can display!

Heh, you call me an Ice Queen? Really? Then explain to me that if I am cold and without emotion why the part of my soul--that part of me I now have back—tried to smash "my" Commander Gendo Ikari (like my sisters had tried to kill "their" Commander Ikari) during that failed Synchronization Test? That one I am told is to have supposed to have happened before one Shinji Ikari got dragged down to Tokyo 3? Yes, I had some "issues" there, thank you.

Hurmph, it was not even the fact that Primarchs and First Children had been created to help wage war against those who would cause mankind's destruction. First, I should mention that I and . . .well, at least Rei had been lied to about our true purpose. Primarchs were created to do much MORE than be mere soldiers. War leaders in war and . . .statemen in peace, I am given to understand. That and the Emperor's answer to Chaos.

Besides, I should be the first to admit that Primarchs have forgotten more about war and warfighting than I and my sisters EVER learned in our lifetimes.

. . .

That can only be a good thing, given the dark and grim setting they hale from, folks.

Yes, the thing we have in common, both First Children and Primarch are our enhanced/genetically imrproved senses. In this case, the sense of hearing.

"Father, who ARE these people?!" Leeman Russ snarls, gesturing at us all with one hand in exasperation. "They’ve been making comments EVER since you ushered me back here and I would SO love to know their tale, you see."

He then turns, glare turning into something of a frown after seeing us not reacting as what I have seen more "ordinary" human beings (regular folk) of the 40K react in similar situations.

A Space Marine (i.e. a very enhanced human being just a step under a primarch, almost a demigod) would have had an "ordinary" quaking in their boots.

. . .

Feh, like a Champion is supposed to react in an "ordinary" manner like fear and awe after meeting real embodiments of the underworkings of a universe? REAL Angels in the metephysical flesh?

Sorry dear Russ, you cannot say you rate when ocmpared to that. Not to say we dimiss you as a non-threat, but we . . .I . . .just cannot do the "awe" thing after everything today. Sorry.

"And why are you shielding them from my probes, Father?" he continues, looking in consternation toward the Emperor.

Well, we already know that answer I believe, right? Magick and Psyker powers do not mix too easily unless you are VERY powerful and skilled (like say a Psyker like a God Emperor); it is only for Russ' and . . .every other person's own good, really that we do not mix the two here.

Next time it might cause an explosion like a high yeild atomic device for the love of the Lord!!

"They . . .are more than bit players in a cancelled religious reenactment," the Emperor begins, looking oddly lost as to how to exactly . . .explain such odd happenings.

Today's events had been rather odd and off the wall, even by HIS standards...

  1. "We are concerned citizens who stepped up to do our part for the Imperium," a female voice states, interrupting.
