Welcome Back, Fred

"What the..?" says Fred, swimming up out of the nothing.

"What am I...?" he continues, before realizing that he's only speaking inside his own head.

"How did I...?" he persists, this time out loud.

Realization is slow to come, but come it does and Fred soon realizes that he is lying on the ground. He's not entirely sure how he got there, but he begins to feel like he should get up. That's what you do when you're on the ground, right?

(Chocolate)

Pulling himself up to a sitting position is arduous work, and causes his head to throb, but somehow he manages it. Everything is still a little fuzzy and broken, but he begins trying to piece it all back together.

(Chocolate)

Slowly, things start to fall back into place. Belboz. The mushrooms. A bathroom break and some hand-washing.

(Chocolate)

The font in the wall with the glowing runes. The dark, sticky water that glued itself to his hands. His shameful dash around the room. A stone or mushroom or something, followed by a hard fall.

And then... such a strange dream. Something about endless walls, and kittens, and braying, honking dragons made of metal. Even now it is beginning to fade, and he is only holding onto the barest edges of it. And...

(Chocolate)

Oh well. Whatever happened exactly, whatever he dreamed, it's over now. And with that thought, Sir Fred shakes the remaining cobwebs out of his head and, shakily, stands up.

"What the hell smells like chocolate?" Fred asks aloud, to no one in particular.

1. Fred examines the viscous, dark water on his hands a little more closely.
2. Fred searches for some water with which to wash his hands.
