"You'll freeze to death dressed like that," Leslie said. Josh only had
his light jacket, which was what he had on when he walked into that
Starbucks back at home, and it was the only jacket he had when he woke up
in Svalbard.
Josh desperately tries to keep warm. "I know, Leslie, this is all I've
got. I just came here from America a little while ago! Apparently,
whoever handled my travel reservations never t-thought to c-check the
Weather Channel!"
"America! My goodness, Josh, what brings you here to Longyearbyen?"
"I think I s-should be asking you that, actually!"
"You go first, Josh. It may keep you warmer!"
"T-that's not funny, Leslie!" Josh tried to stifle his laughter, but
couldn't. "A-anyway, nine of my friends walked into our local Starbucks
for coffee, and we a-apparently all signed up for t-this 'Island Game'
contest where we'd all g-get dropped off on different r-remote islands
around the world, and we'd only get s-six months to get back to t-this
town in Missouri c-called Joplin! I guess getting dropped off here in
Longdongbeer, or w-whatever it's called is somebody's idea of a s-sick
joke!"
Leslie wears a shocked look on her face.
-
"Enough about me, Leslie," Josh shivered. "What brings you here?"
-
"Tell me more about this 'Island Game', Josh," she asks.
-
Before saying anything else, Leslie takes Josh into the nearest store to buy some better winter clothing.
-
"Let me help you escape, Josh," Leslie says.
-
"S-so, you wanna come back to my place?" Josh asks.
