Jazz, Delicious Hot, Disgusting Cold!

For many years, Beth McCart always wanted to visit some of the more exotic islands that all of her friends talked about as possible vacation destinations. Places like the Caymans, Aruba, the Virgin Islands, or even the Bahamas were always talked about hypothetically. As far as Beth could remember, no one ever mentioned New Caledonia.

And yet, here she was, in a townhouse in a swanky part of the capital, Noumea. The last thing Beth remembered was drinking Starbucks coffee back at home with Josh, who she missed terribly, and several other friends. The paperwork on the kitchen table did show her that she agreed to take part in this, but Beth could only think that she really didn't grasp what she was getting into.

Still, it was a beautiful day out there, one that made Beth want to forget about the day, and go hang out at the nearest beach. Too bad she didn't have a bikini with her, and she was dressed more for a brisk day in the Midwest rather than a nice, sunny day in the tropics.

Beth stood up, with some sightseeing brochures in her hand. Even thousands of miles away from home, she didn't want to sit around the house the whole day. It was time to explore her new surroundings. Figuring out a way back to America could wait a little while...
