"Only one creature would have the strength and intelligence to create a
warning as huge and gruesome as this," Fred said to himself, "I am truly
nearing the lair of the dragon."
Fred began searching the chamber for the secret passage the sorcerer had told him of. He tapped at the walls of the chamber with the hilt of his sword, until he had examined every clear space to no avail. "The mechanism to open the passage must be hidden behind one of these poor wretches," he thought. And so, he cut down the dragon's victims, one by one, laying them on the floor of the chamber in a great cross. It was the nearest he could do to a proper burial. When he came to the 'W' he found it.
