The alien continued: "One of the things that you let us do, Stacy, was to record all your memories. Although we cannot give you access to your original memories - still presumably stored somewhere in your brain, though inaccessible to you - we may be able to feed our recording back to you. You'll get your memories back at second-hand, as it were...

  1. "It's a relatively safe procedure. The worst that can happen is that your brain will reject the memories."
  2. "It's not without its risks."
  3. "Unfortunately, the malfunction we had scrambled part of the recording, so you'll find a few gaps, and maybe even have a few memories of things that never happened."
