Paula looked about ready to cry at this rejection. Stacy placed a
comforting hand on her shoulder. "Paula is a friend," she said. "You can
trust her." The alien's expression was hard to read (it was an alien, after all!), but Stacy thought it looked stubborn. "No. She must go. We have let too many humans on our ship already." Paula gave Stacy and Robert and anguished look, but said, "It's all right. If I have to, I'll go."
