A crackling purple energy field surrounded the old necromancer, sending him
into violent seizures. As he writhed about in mind-shattering agony on the
cold cave floor, the entire group of astonished onlookers turned their
attention to Exotica. The princess wasted no time and, taking advantage of the moment, took the liberty to fire another magical burst of energy - this time at Adele. The raven-haired sorceress, unlike her father, wasn’t caught off guard and quickly threw up a defensive shield to ward off the powerful assault. “You bitch!” she cried out, trying desperately to hold off the sphere of raw energy that was now mere inches from her face.“Just give me the ring!” bellowed the Allarian princess, forming another surging sphere in her outstretched hands. “Give me the blue ring of Belboz!” “NEVER!” Adele raged, harnessing her anger to dispel the powerful attack. The ball of energy fizzled away harmlessly, but not before Exotica had launched another in what seemed to be an endless barrage of earth shaking attacks. This time Adele was unable to throw up a shield in time, and was consumed by the blast.“Can’t you see what’s going on here!?” the princess pleaded with the others. “That man is not who you think he is! The real Belboz died over 700 years ago! This isn’t Belboz the Fell, it’s Minestus the Terrible!” Fred’s mind was racing. This entire day was one betrayal after another! And now to find out that he was in the company of yetanother sorceress! And the king’s daughter, no less! He was angry and above all he was confused.Unfortunately, Fred had made the mistake of letting his guard down and Matthias took full advantage of this blunder. In an instant he was able to disarm Fred with one well placed stroke and in the next bring the blade of his sword to the knight’s face. Fred was caught completely off guard and it took him a moment to realize what had happened. He cursed himself inwardly. Fool! he thought. Now you’ve gone and done it!“Leave them alone!” Matthius ordered. “Or you will force my hand against this knight! That goes for you as well, Elaine!” “Don’t do it, princess!” Fred quickly responded.Elaine, meanwhile, was checking on Adele while Sigin, it seems, had somehow slipped away without anyone noticing.“She’s fine!” Elaine suddenly declared. “The attack has merely paralyzed her! Please, Matthius! For once in your life show some restraint!” Astra, meanwhile, was trying to maintain a low profile while inching closer and closer to the fallen necromancer. Exotica turned to Fred with an earnest look in her eyes. “I’m so sorry, Lord Fred. I wasn’t completely honest with you. The dragon didn’t kidnap me. I came here for another reason, and of my own accord. Please forgive me!” She then turned to Matthias. “There isn’t much time to explain. Just trust me. This man is NOT Belboz! We MUST cut that ring from his finger while we still have time!”
