It occurred to Fred that, if Sigin for some reason did not want what had
happened eight hundred years ago to be explained, then pretending to
detect the approach of Minestus would be a good delaying tactic. Not that
he could imagine what Sigin's motive could possibly be. It was just that
the timing seemed too perfect to be a coincidence. He tried to dismiss
those thoughts as being unworthy. Sigin was their ally, surely?
"That's very brave of you, Sigin," Adele said. "You can't cast spells in that form, though, and would have no chance of delaying Minestus by much. You would just be sacrificing yourself for nothing. But if Elaine and I helped you, then our combined magic might be able to hold him up for a bit." "I'm not leaving you, Adele," Matthias said. "Very well," Elaine said. "Fred, you take the two princesses and get to Belboz's chamber as quick as you can. The rest of us will try to give you the time that you need."
