The men weren't about to explain that she and Fred were going to face extremely high levels of radiation and that only the lead-lined whole-body suits and helmets would give them a slim chance of survival. (Since there were no suits suitable for dogs, Velus wouldn't be going on this mission.) "Sorry," one of them said. "I know they weigh an awful lot. But they really are very effective at stopping any magic spells that anyone might direct at you."

"So let me get this straight," Fred said. "All we have to do is enter this building, find this'control room', and pull a big red lever down to the 'off' position? That sounds incredibly simple. Why do you need us?"

"Just in case any magic users try to stop you," the man said, trying not to laugh. "That's why we needed experienced adventurers like yourselves."
