"Well, I have to know what it does before I decide to use it in combat,"
Fred says casually, while turning slowly to regard the creature.
The creature seems to sense Fred's intentions. "You wouldn't," it gasps. As it turned out, Fred would. He made to stab the creature straight in the chest but it twisted and jumped backwards. But it was unarmed and stood no chance against a skilled swordsman. Fred came after it and swung the sword wildly, a mad gleam in his eyes. The creature made a moaning sound as it tried to dodge again but the sword struck it in the back of its shoulder. Again the sword glowed purple, making something more like a buzzing sound. The creature twitched, every muscle cramping while the smell of burnt meat filled the room. Satisfied, Fred returned removed his own sword from the scabbard and sheathed the purple sword instead. He felt sad letting go of it, but the thought of when he'd next use the sword put a smile on his face once more. Fred felt he was bound to the sword forever.
