Having murdered the only halfway competent doctor in three hundred miles, Josh's village and the surrounding eight villages are destroyed in a veritable orgy of diseases. Granted, some of them were caused by Carey's incompetence but generally, his skill at curing usually cancels out his skill at causing. Anyway, thousands die.

  1. Diseases ravage the land. Society collapses.
  2. Australian aborigines, having invented modern medicine due in part to their isolation, manage to save what was left of society. And teach people ballroom dancing. And piracy.
