Astra had been eleven the last time that Fred had seen her, ten years before, so he could be excused for not recognising this tall, beautiful woman as being her. "My, but you've grown," was all that he could think of to say.

"Naturally, and so have you. But I recognised your face immediately. Tell me, why are you wearing chain mail? It's hardly the most comfortable attire for the beach?"

  1. Fred tells the truth about how he comes to be here so attired.
  2. Fearing that the truth would be discreditable, Fred makes something up.
  3. Fred never has to answer the question, as just then...
  4. Fred attempts to distract Astra by asking why she is wearing so little. (Allarian female beachwear was much more prudish than Aqualarian, and covered everything except head, neck, hands and feet.)
