Then he heard the princess start to giggle. Before long, she was howling with laughter and tears were running down her cheeks. Fred looked up at her in astonishment.

Eventually her laughter subsided to the point that she was able to speak. "I'm sorry, Fred," she said between gasping for breath. "I shouldn't have played a trick like that on you, even though you were asking for it with that hamfisted chat-up line."

"I'm sorry," Fred said, scrambling back to his feet. "Does that mean that you're not really Princess Astra?"

1. "Oh, that part is true enough. But I'm not in the habit of having people punished for their social gaffes."
2. "No, but I'm told that I look just like her."
