There were other - human - footprints also leading to the door with the white circle. But so there were to the other door as well, so that was no help. Not being able to distinguish which footprints were Fred's, and not realising that he would have followed the dog-prints, Astra guessed wrong and opted to go through the other door.

She found herself in what appeared to be a guardroom. Several men lay sleeping on their bunks, one was polishing his helm, two more were playing some sort of card game. One of the card players looked up at the sound of the door opening. "It's the naked woman from the lake!" he exclaimed. "The Boss wants her taken alive, if possible."

Astra is captured.
Realising from that last remark that this is not a good place for her to be, Astra quickly exits the room again before any of the men can grab their weapons.
