"There are only three ways in this world to effectively kill a Shoggoth,"
Belboz stated, furrowing his brow. "To burn it in the blue flame, yes
that will work, as well as to wield a blade of the light element. But in
the absence of these methods all we can make use of is the Ritual of the
Three Penitents." "The Ritual of the Three Penitents?" "Yes. Fred must be placed in the center of the magic line created by the joining of three penitential circles, which will align the dimensions into a portal to the Realm of Death, banishing all of Fred inside." And so it was done, the penitential circles were written into the floor of the cave, Fred was placed in the middle of them and Belboz sealed the circle in after him with a magic word. Immediately dark energy began to swirl around Fred, but even minutes later he showed no sign of dying or disappearing. Astra raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you know what the hell you're talking about, old man?" Belboz scratched his head. "Not really! It appears this experiment to kill Lord Fred has failed. But there has to be a way to destroy both Fred and the Dragon. Lets go." "Gee, thanks a lot," Fred sighed peevishly as Belboz joined their party. "Now remember, I am a scholarly class, so I cannot move as fast as you two fighters. You shall have to walk more slowly so as to leave me in your train, and we have to take frequent breaks for me to catch my breath. Oh yes, and to apply my ear medicine. And study breaks. And nap breaks." "Looks like we're not going to get too far with him tagging along," Fred laughed, grinning at Astra.
