Flee the Dragon

"Pansies!" it yelled out at them and then settled back to enjoy some fried chicken.

Fred and Astra just kept running like hell. After a while though they began to slow down and finally came to a full stop to catch their breath.

"Boy, that dragon sure looked like he was ready to eat us both alive, huh Astr--ERK!" Fred stared at Astra and then looked down at the sword sticking through his gut. And then he looked back up at Astra. "Sorry lady, but I'm still not dead. And I gotta tell ya, I really don't think your sword is the way to go. All it's doing for me is... well, it kinda tickles. So if you wanna slay me once and for all, you're really gonna have to try harder."

Astra threw up her hands in frustration and screamed out a blue streak of an oath straight to the !@#% Gods. Fred was so shocked he actually blushed. He'd never heard such filthy language, not even from the foul-mouthed sailors that called Collinsport home. Turning back to Fred, Astra saw the look on his face and just got madder. "What are you looking at! Huh?! Never seen a lady blow off a little steam before!?"

"A little steam?" Fred mumbled to himself. "Mt.Vesuvius couldn't blow off as much steam as you."

"WHAT did you say!?!" Astra hollered at him, spit flying through the air.

"Nothing, your majesty," Fred gulped, cringing back toward the wall. In the back of Fred's mind, the Fourth Shoggoth took that moment to remind Fred that he had the power to devastate entire friggin cities, so would he please stop being such a wuss around the red-headed chick? Fred just mentally shrugged and kept looking at the red-faced, red-haired, madder-than-hell Aqualarian she-warrior.

After finally getting herself back under control, Astra wailed, "How am I supposed to kill this supernatural freak?!"

1. "Perhaps I can help..." said the man known as Belboz as he walked out of the shadows toward them.
2. "Wouldn't you like to know," giggled the Second Shoggoth as she stepped into the light near Fred.
